Bikaner: World Famous Rat Temple

Sri karni Mata Temple, located 30 km from Bikaner, is famous in the world as Rat Temple. It attracts a large number of tourists from USA, European countries along with India. A short story on who Karani Mata was and what her efforts were in establishing Bikaner.

          Karni Mataji's Trishul Bikaner is present in the world-famous Pugal. The Bikaner State was established by

Rao Bika, great son of Jodhpur King Jodhpur.

 

           Actually Bikaner was founded with the result of a taunt given in the Jodhpur court. According to historians, Jodhpur founder Rao Jodha taunted his son Rao Bika. At that time Rao Bikaji was discussing with his uncle. The father met with such a taunt that he said in the court that yes the kingdom will settle. 

            Rao Bikaj lived in Kodamdesar, after leaving from Jodhpur.  and resting in Mandore, attended the attendance of Karni Mataji in Deshnok. For the Rajputs, they made it clear that they knew how to move, not to retreat. On this, Karnimata blessed the name of Bikaner in the entire world.

         They reached Kodamdesar via Chandasar village. Rao Bikaji married Rangakanwarji.Bikaji stayed at Kodamdesar for three years and got a small pot constructed there. After Kodamdesar, Bikaji lived in Janglu village for 10 years. Bikaji wanted to build the fort at Kodamdesar. But Sheikhji Bhati, ruler of Pugal used to come with his army every day and destroy the fort.

      

          Bikaji married Shekonji Bhati's daughter Rangkanwarji. In historians and other source materials, Karni considers Mataji's important role in the marriage of Bikaji with Pugal. Even today, Karni Mataji's trident is present in the temple built in the fort of Pugal. There was a fight between Pugal's Bhatis and Bikaji in which Bikaji defeated the Bhatis of Pugal. But still occasionally, Bhati used to attack Bikaji seeing opportunities. Bikaji laid the foundation of the fort , where Ratighati is presently located in the city of Bikaner and made Bikaner the capital of his kingdom.

         After expanding the state of Bikaner, he attacked the villages of Godara Jats and other Jat castes, Dhani Rajputs of Sheikhsar Ronyans and annexed them into his kingdom.  

बीकानेर: विश्व विख्यात रेट टेम्पल

पूगल में मौजूद है करणी माताजी का त्रिशूल

 

बीकानेर से 30 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित चूहों वाली श्रीकरणी माता का मन्दिर विश्व में रेट टेम्पल के नाम से मशहूर है। यहां भारत के साथ यूरोपीय देशों से बड़ी संख्या में पर्यटक आते हैं। करणी माता कौन थी और बीकानेर नगर की स्थापना में उनका क्या प्रयास था, इस पर छोटी सी सत्यकथा। जोधपुर नरेश राव जोधा के धुंरधर पुत्र राव बीका ने  बीकानेर राज्य की स्थापना की थी। दरअसल बीकानेर की स्थापना जोधपुर दरबार में दिए गए एक ताने की परिणिती से हुई। इतिहासकारों के अनुसार जोधपुर संस्थापक राव जोधा ने अपने पुत्र राव बीका पर ताना मारा था। उस समय राव बीकाजी अपने चाचा के साथ चर्चा कर रहे थे। पिता से मिला ताना कुछ यूं अखरा कि उन्होंने दरबार में ही कह दिया कि हां राज्य बसाएंगे। फिर क्या था चल पड़े जांगल प्रदेश में मंगलगान गाने के लिए। 

कोडमदेसर में रहे तीन वर्ष

राव बीकाजी , जोधपुर से रवाना होकर मण्डोर में विश्राम करने के पश्चात देशनोक में करणी माताजी की हाजरी में उपस्थित हुए। राजपूती आन-बान लिए बीका स्पष्ट कर दिया कि वे कदम बढ़ाना जानते हैं पीछे हटना नहीं। इस पर करणीमाता ने पूरे जग में बीकानेर का नाम होने का आशीर्वाद प्रदान किया। चाण्डासर गांव होते हुए वे कोडमदेसर पहुंचे। 

राव बीकाजी का रंगकंवरजी से विवाह

बीकाजी तीन वर्ष तक कोडमदेसर में रहे तथा वहां एक छोटे पोट का निर्माण भी करवाया। कोडमदेसर के बाद बीकाजी  जांगलू गांव में रहे। बीकाजी कोडमदेसर में किले का निर्माण करवाना चाहते थे। परन्तु पूगल के शासक शेखोंजी भाटी प्रतिदिन अपनी सेना के साथ आकर किले को ध्वस्त कर देते थे। बीकाजी ने शेखोंजी भाटी की बेटी रंगकंवरजी के साथ विवाह कर लिया। इतिहासकारों व अन्य स्रोत सामग्रियों में बीकाजी के पूगल के साथ वैवाहिक सम्बन्ध में करणी माताजी की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका मानते है। आज भी पूगल के किले में बने मन्दिर में करणी माताजी का त्रिशूल विद्यमान है।

         पूगल के भाटियों व बीकाजी के बीच लड़ाई हुई जिसमें बीकाजी ने पूगल के भाटियों को परास्त कर दिया। परन्तु फिर भी यदा-कदा भाटी अवसर देखकर बीकाजी पर आक्रमण करते रहते थे। बीकाजी ने रातीघाटी जहां वर्तमान में बीकानेर शहर बसा हुआ है, वहां पर  किले की नींव रखी तथा अपने राज्य की राजधानी बीकानेर बना ली। तत्पश्चात् बीकानेर राज्य का विस्तार करते हुए उन्होंने शेखसर रोणियें के गोदारा जाटों व अन्य जाट जातियों, खींची राजपूतों के गांवों पर आक्रमण कर उन्हें अपने राज्य में मिला लिया।
