राज्य सरकार ने ऊंट को राजकीय पशु घोषित किया है ताकि इसकी गिरती संख्या पर लगाम लगाई जा सके। हालांकि पिछले दस वर्षों से इसकी गिरती संख्या को लेकर अनेक योजनाएं बन चुकी है, किन्तु तमाम प्रयासों केे बावजूद इनकी संख्या लगातार कम हो रही है। इसकी वजह है इसकी पारम्परिक उपयोगिता का कम होना। पहले ऊंट को खेतों में व गाड़ों में इस्तेमाल किया जाता था, लेकिन वर्तमान मेंं स्थितियों व परिस्थितियां तेजी से बदल रही है। खेतों में ऊंटों का कार्य सीमित हो रहा है वहीं शहरों में बोझ ढोने केे लिए अन्य संसाधनों का इस्तेमाल किया जाने लगा है। इसके चलते ऊंट बदलते परिवेश की पट्टिका पर फिसलने लगा है।
उपयोगिता बढ़ेगी, जीवन बचेगा
ऊंट की उपयोगिता अन्य कार्यों में बढ़ाने से ऊंट की संख्या में तेजी से इजाफा हो सकता है। न केवल इजाफा होगा, बल्कि इसकी मांग भी बढ़ेगी। पिछले डेढ़ दशक मेंं बीकानेर व जैसलमेर मेंं कैमल सफारी की मांग मेंं इजाफा हुआ है। रेगिस्तान में कैमल सफारी के लिए न केवल देश के विभिन्न प्रान्तों बल्कि यूरोपीय देशों से भी बड़ी संख्या में सैलानी पहुंचने लगे हैं। रेगिस्तान के जहाज की उपयोगिता को कैमल सफारी द्वारा बढ़ाया जा सकता है। हालांकि सरकार की ओर से कैमल सफारी को बढ़ावा देने के लिए कोई योजना नहीं बनाई गई है।
कैमल मिल्क की अहम् भूमिका
रेगिस्तान के जहाज को बचाने मेंं कैमल मिल्क की भी अहम भूमिका हो सकती है। कैमल मिल्क में उपलब्ध पौष्टिक तत्वों के बारे मेंं अधिक से अधिक आमजन को बताए जाने से दूध की खपत बढ़ेगी। इससे ऊंटों की संख्या में भी इजाफा होगा। अभी तक राइका जाति मेंं ही ऊंट के दूध का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। जबकि कैमल मिल्क मधुमेह, घुटनोंं के दर्द सहित अन्य रोगों में कारगर है।
राजस्थान को छोड़ अन्य प्रान्तों व विदेशों मेंं कैमल मिल्क लोकप्रिय हो रहा है। सरकारी स्तर पर इस दिशा में व्यापक स्तर पर कार्य किए जाने की आवश्यकता है। कैमल मिल्क सुपर फूड माना गया है। सरकार इसे बगाों के लिए अनिवार्य करती है तो इससे निश्चित तौर पर ऊंंटों की संख्या में इजाफा हो सकेगा। राजस्थान के सादड़ी इलाके मेंं एक गैर सरकारी संगठन ऊंटों के संरक्षण के लिए कार्य कर रहा है इसी तरह अन्य संगठनों को भी सरकार जोड़कर कार्य कर सकती है। वर्तमान मेंं ऊंटोंं के आभूषण, आर्टिफिशियल ज्वैलरी व्यवसाय मेंं लोकप्रिय हो रहे हैं। लघु उद्योग को बढ़ावा देकर इसकी उपयोगिता और बढ़ाई जा सकती है। उपयोगिता बढऩे पर ही ऊंटों की संख्या तेजी से बढ़ेगी।
इसलिए घट रही है संख्या
दरअसल ऊंटों की संख्या गिरने की वजह है इसकी उपयोगिता को अन्य कार्यों में नहीं बढ़ाया जा रहा। इसे केवल परम्परागत मेले एवं खेतों मेंं उपयोगिता तक ही सीमित रखा जा रहा है। इसके अलावा गांवों में भी मशीनों की संख्या बढऩे से ऊंटोंं की जान पर बन आई है। ऊंटोंं के लिए नए सिरे से चारागाह भी विकसित करने होंगे।
बन सकता है ऊंट अभयारण्य
राजस्थान में ऊंटोंं की संख्या बढ़ाने के लिए इसके लिए अलग से अभयारण्य भी बनाया जा सकता है, जहां अधिक से अधिक ऊंटों की संख्या को बढ़ाया जा सकता है। ऊंटोंं का अभयारण्य एक पर्यटन स्थल भी बन सकता है। यूरोपीय देशों मेंं ऊंट नहीं होते। लेकिन यदि इसके लिए अभयारण्य शुरू कर टिकट निर्धारित किया जाता है तो न केवल सरकार के राजस्व मेंं इजाफा होगा बल्कि राजस्थान मेंं एक नया टूरिस्ट डेस्टिनेशन भी बनेगा।
