Bikaner. The people here have as much depth and vibrancy in the sandy dunes. If there is a combative life, people also have depth. The ship of the desert has witnessed the struggle of the people here. 

      Not one or two years, but for centuries. This is also known to every resident living in this remote desert, that is why people here have a different attitude towards the ship of the desert, as a symbol of liveliness and struggle. This is the Bikaner where once upon a time, the women insisted on marrying their mother in the same house which used to be a camel.

     From fingernail to crest, decoration of camel has been here for centuries. There is a lot of adornment on the desert ship. This is the reason why it is sung a lot in literature and songs too - "Alija maharo gorbandh nakhralo ". This song is definitely heard somewhere. It is not a minor thing to decorate a camel's body from 25 thousand to 1 lakh. Ladies of colored beads made of clam shell and glass on black body, colorful garlands made of black, blue, green and red cords, Rajasthani bound garments and palanas on the back, black and red ribbons in the neck and neck Hardy attracts the attention of those who see the design. 

        The moon stars carved on camels, many shapes including the sun, not only add beauty to the moon, but it seems that rural life is limited to camels. Shrines of Rs 25 thousand to Rs 1 lakh are made on a desert ship. Whether camel is an excuse for celebration, but the efforts for this is started a month before the camel festival for grooming camels. During this time, the camel stands in one place and does not carry the burden. Hair is cut neatly with two types of scissors to make it look more attractive. In the old Gajner Road Dharmakanta, Pabubari, Bandrabas and adjoining villages of Bikaner city of western Rajasthan,  

         Although camels are also found in Australia and Arab countries and originated in Latin America, but there is not much grooming there. Here this strange creature is directly and indirectly connected to life. Bravery with beauty, where it is not possible for the army to reach, our country is protected through camels. In the Thar of the desert, a camel walks easily on the fire-soiling soil during the summer days and on this our  protect the country. This ship protects us even when the winter is in a bad condition.

 

       This sequence has been going on not only since independence but also before that. Our camels also present the hallmark of how the country is protected on camels. The desert ship also became a major character in the saga of 'Dhola-Maru' A real famous Love story in this desert area.

 Desert ships also protect against many dangerous diseases. Camel milk has proved that it prevents diabetes. In European countries it has been called superfood

रेगिस्तान का जहाज और सौन्दर्य : गोरबंध का अनूठा शृंगार

बीकानेर। रेतीले धोरों में जितनी गहराई व स्पन्दन है उतनी ही जीवटता यहां के लोगों में है। जुझारू जीवन है तो लोगों में भी गहराई है। रेगिस्तान का जहाज यहां के लोगों के संघर्ष का साक्षी रहा है। कोई एक दो बरस नहीं बल्कि सदियों से। इसका भान इस सुदूर रेगिस्तान में रहने वाले हर एक बाशिन्दे को भी है यही वजह है कि यहां के लोग जीवटता व संघर्ष के प्रतीक रेगिस्तान के जहाज के प्रति अन्य पशुओं की तुलना में अलग नजरिया रखते हैं। यही वह बीकानेर है जहां किसी जमाने में युवतियां अपनी मां से उसी घर में शादी करने की जिद किया करती थी जिस घर में ऊंटनी हुआ करती थी।

नख से शिख तक सजावट

ऊंट का शृंगार यहां सदियों से होता रहा है।  रेगिस्तान के जहाज पर जर्रे-जर्रे पर खूब शृंगार किया जाता है। यही कारण है कि इसे साहित्य एवं गीतों में भी खूब गाया जाता है-आळीजा म्हारो गोरबंध नखराळो।    गाहे-बगाहे यह गीत कहीं न कहीं अवश्य सुनाई देता है। 

25 हजार से 1 लाख तक

ऊंट के शरीर पर शृंगार करना कोई मामूली बात नहीं है। स्थूल शरीर पर कौड़ी व कांच से बनी रंग-बिरंगी मालाओं की लडिय़ां, काले, नीले, हरे व लाल रंगों की डोरियों से बनी रंग-बिरंगी मालाएं, पीठ पर राजस्थानी बंधेज युक्त वस्त्र व पलान, पड़ले, गले में काले व लाल रिबन व मेहन्दी की डिजायन देखने वालों का ध्यान बरबस अपनी ओर आकर्षित करती है। ऊंटों पर उकेरे गए चांद सितारे, सूर्य सहित अनेक आकृतियां न केवल सौन्दर्य में चार चांद लगाते हैं बल्कि मानों ऐसा लगता है कि ग्राम्य जीवन ही ऊंटों पर सिमट आया हो। रेगिस्तान के जहाज पर 25 हजार रुपए से लेकर एक लाख रुपए का शृंगार किया जाता है। चाहे ऊंट उत्सव का बहाना हो, लेकिन ऊंटों में शृंगार के लिए यहां जतन ऊंट उत्सव से एक माह पहले शुरू कर दिए जाते हैं।  इस दौरान ऊंट एक ही स्थान पर खड़ा रहता है उससे बोझा नहीं ढोया जाता। दो तरह की कैंचियों से बालों को करीने से काटा जाता है ताकि यह अधिक से अधिक आकर्षक दिखाई दे। पश्चिमी राजस्थान के बीकानेर शहर के पुरानी गजनेर रोड धर्मकांटा, पाबूबारी, बान्द्राबास व आस-पास के गांवों में ऊंटों का विशेष शृंगार किया जाता है।  हालांकि ऊंट ऑस्ट्रेलिया व अरब देशों में भी पाए जाते हैं और इसकी उत्पत्ति लेटिन अमरीका में हुई थी, लेकिन वहां इतना शृंगार नहीं है। यहां यह विचित्र प्राणी जीवन से प्रत्यक्ष व अप्रत्यक्ष तौर पर जुड़ा है।

सौन्दर्य के साथ वीरता

जहां सेना का पहुंचना संभव नहीं होता है वहां ऊंटों के माध्यम से हमारे देश की रक्षा होती है। रेगिस्तान के थार में गर्मी के दिनों में आग उगलती मिट्टी पर ऊंट सहज चल पड़ता है और इस पर हमारे जाबांज देश की रक्षा करते हैं। सर्दी जब हालत पस्त कर देती है तब भी यह जहाज हमारी रक्षा करता है। यह क्रम न केवल आजादी के बाद से बल्कि उससे पहले से भी चला आ रहा है। ऊंटों पर देश की रक्षा कैसे की जाती है इसकी भी बानगी प्रत्येक ऊंट उत्सव के दौरान हमारे जाबांज प्रस्तुत करते हैं। रेगिस्तान के इस बंजर इलाके में 'ढोला-मारूÓ की गाथा में भी रेगिस्तान का जहाज प्रमुख किरदार बना था। 

       रेगिस्तान का जहाज अनेक खतरनाक बीमारियों से भी बचाता है। ऊंटनी के दूध से यह साबित हो चुका है कि यह मधुमेह से बचाता है। यूरोपीय देशों में इसे सुपरफूड कहा जा चुका है।
